Following last year’s very successful event, with over 600 visitors, another was planned for this year, with additional facilities such as hot food and Ice cream vans.

The trouble is that we struggled with only eight volunteers last year, as the marshalling and general running really needs more like sixteen. We needed at least fourteen promised but got nowhere near that.

The new adventure feature is already proving very popular.

The skate park has been partly repaired following considerable vandalism, but is still locked shut due to dangerous holes in the main ramps.

Torkington Park is on the corner of the main A6 Buxton Road from Manchester to Buxton and Torkington Road, the Bull’s Head being on the opposite side of Torkington Road.

It has many attractions for young and old, human and canine, and has won the prestigious Green Flag award for several recent years.

The Friends of Torkington Park are a non-profit making voluntary organisation dedicated to maintaining and improving the park’s facilities and amenities, working closely with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council Parks department who have overall responsible for its upkeep.

We hold many events throughout the year, including Halloween Trails, carol singing, Treasure Hunts and much more. We are instrumental in instigating and raising funds for major improvements such as the Skate Park and “Under 6” play area.
